Why Taking Sides Frequently Ends In Disaster

Finding The Path To Something Better

There is a Lot that We are Taught about Arguments and Debates.

We are Told that there are Usually Two Sides that Exist on a Topic.

That One Side is Right...

And the Other Side is Wrong.

The Side that is Wrong Believes that they are Right...

But are Misguided for One Reason or Another.

The Side that is Right has to Show the Side that is Wrong Why they are Wrong...

And How they are Misguided.

If You are Right...

Then it is Up to You to Make Sure that You Do Not Get Seduced Over to the Wrong Side...

And You Must Be Right because Everyone Around You on Your Side Tells You that You are Right.

But Here's the Problem...

All of this is Absolutely Wrong...

And This Type of Thinking Creates More Problems than it Solves.

How Do I Know It Is Wrong?

As Humans...

All of Us...

Myself Included...

Know Far Less than We Believe We Know.

There are So Many Variables that We Do Not Know...

Or Understand...

That We All End Up Being Wrong...

Frequently.

The Truth is that There are Not Two Sides Where One is Right and One is Wrong...

There are Way More Scenarios that are Possible.

There Could be Three Sides.

There Could Be Two Sides that are Both Wrong for Unknown Reasons.

There Could Be Two Sides that are Both Right for Different Reasons.

There Could Be Two Answers to the Same Question where Both a Valid for Different Sets of Circumstances.

All of these Types of Scenarios, and More, Play Out so Frequently.

But...

When We have the False Belief that there are Two Sides...

Where One is Wrong and One is Right...

We Begin to Create a Psychological Dilemma...

Where We Become Blind to Reality.

We Begin to Become Self-Righteous in Our Beliefs...

But Due to Our Humanity, that Far More Often Ends as Just being Judgmental and Intolerant.

Within that Judgmental and Intolerant Attitude and Belief System that We Design through this Incorrect Lens that We have Been Taught...

We Continue to Be Wrong...

But Convinced We are Right...

And We May Be Arguing Against Others Who Are Also Wrong...

But We are Still Wrong...

And We All May Be Completely Missing a Better Path Forward...

Because We are Too Busy Attempting to Prove Ourselves Right...

And Others Wrong...

That We are Unable to Find Any Path Forward.

We Begin to Dig Trenches...

Plan to Die on Hills...

That are All Wrong.

But it Becomes Worse Because We Become So Blind to Reality...

We Literally Project a False Perception on the World Around Us...

And Our Perception Warps Everything Around Us.

This Warped Perception makes us Further Blind to How the World Actually Works.

Our Brains Begin to Work like a Search Engine...

Looking for "Exactly" What We Tell it to Look For...

And We Find Everything to Prove Ourselves "Right"...

While Completely Missing Anything Else that Could Be Significantly Better.

There are Better Paths that Exist...

We Can Help Create a Better World...

But We have to Move Past the Idea that there are Only Two Sides...

Past the Idea that there is Only One Single Path Forward...

Past the Idea that Someone Must Be Right...

Past the Idea that We Know All of the Information that is Possible to Know.

If We Want to Find a Better Path....

We Must Begin to Break Past the Idea that there are Sides.
