Understanding How Slowing Down Is The Path To Speed Up
Patience.
It is a Word We All Know...
And Perhaps We All Hate It Equally.
Especially in a World that is Dominated by Microwave Thinking...
And Obsessed with the Idea (aka Lie) of Overnight Successes.
So, most people Push...
And Push...
And Push...
Faster and Faster they Go...
Until...
They Crash and Burn.
This is the Typical Cycle that We See.
But to Understand "Why" this Happens...
And Why Patience is So Beneficial to Us as Humans...
We have to Understand Stressors.
Now, we often think about "Stress" as a Bad Thing.
However, this is "Not" True.
Not Inherently Anyhow.
"Can" Stress be Bad?
Absolutely.
But Stress can also be Good and Beneficial in Our Lives.
It is actually "Needed" for Growth to Occur.
In fact, some Biologists are in the proposing a New Biological Law about the Necessity of Chaos for Growth.
Without Stressors, there is No Need for Recovery and Growth...
Without Recovery and Growth All We Have is Stagnation.
In Biology, Stagnation is Death.
All this to Say that Stressors are Not Good or Bad Inherently.
So what Determines If a Stressor is "Good" or "Bad"?
It has to do with what is Known as the Stress Threshold.
All Stress Adds.
As You Add More Stressors to Your Life, You begin to Approach the Stress Threshold.
Having Enough Stressors is Known as Eu-Stress, or Good Stress.
But if You Continue to Add Stressors to the Point where You "Pass" the Stress Threshold...
Then You Begin to Experience Dis-Stress, or Bad Stress.
This Helps Us Explain "Why" the Ideas of Microwave Mentality and Overnight Successes Fail...
Especially in the Long Term.
If We Continue to Add Stressors, Especially Quickly...
We Also Find Ourselves Quickly Surpassing Our Stress Threshold...
Putting Us Into Dis-Stress.
In Dis-Stress, We Begin to Perform Worse and Worse...
The Further into Dis-Stress?
The Worse We Become.
So, By Adding Stressors Too Quickly...
You Push Quickly into Worse and Worse States of Dis-Stress...
Until You Hit Burnout, which is Where Over 80% of the Workforce Currently Is.
What Makes it Worse is that the Longer You are "In" Dis-Stress...
You begin to Discover that Your Stress Threshold Deteriorates.
That is Right...
Your Stress Threshold can Change...
And Not Always to Your Benefit.

This Begins what is called a Virtuous Cycle.
You Push Your Body Close to that Stress Threshold Point...
Which Tells Your Body that it Should "Prepare" Itself to Handle Stressors Better.
Then, in Recovery, the Body Builds Better Energy (Mg-ATP) Pathways, Mental Models, Learns, and Fortifies Itself to Handle those Stressors Better in the Future.
This, then Increases Your Ability to Handle those Stressors...
Effectively Increasing Your Stress Threshold.
The More Frequently You Approach the Stress Threshold without Going Past It...
The Faster the Body Builds Up those Pathways to Handle them Better.
However, this Takes Time for the Body to Accomplish...
Especially in the Beginning Stages.
Patience.
Using Patience in the Beginning Allows Your Body to Learn, Understand, and Adapt to the Stressors that You are Experiencing...
The More Frequently You Do That...
The Better Your Body Begins to Handle those Stressors...
The Higher Your Stress Threshold Becomes...
And the Faster You Can Attain the Goals You Seek.
But the Key is that You Must Work "With" Your Psychophysiology.
Not Against It.
We are Incredible By Design as Humans...
As Long as We are Living "As" Humans.
We are Not Machines and when We Attempt to Act Like Machines...
"More Input = More Output"...
We Destroy Ourselves.
But When We Actually Use Our Psychophysiology as Designed...
"Perform -> Learn -> Adjust -> Adapt -> Grow -> Perform Better"
We Begin to Accomplish What Nothing on this Planet has Ever Accomplished Before.
But it Requires Us to Have Patience...
Especially in the Beginning.
