Why Most Teams Fail

Understanding How Most Teams Are About To Crumble

So many organizations are looking to improve their teams.

But so many of them fail...

Completely and utterly.

The truth is that most teams are not teams.

And to understand what actually happens...

We can look at physiology.

Now...

Many people understand that if you want to become stronger...

You need to build your muscles.

But this is what most people fail to understand...

Big muscles do not necessarily make you strong.

In fact...

If some of your muscles are too large...

And others cannot support them...

You can create muscular imbalances...

And if they are not fixed...

It can cause catastrophic failures.

Tears.

Structural Collapses.

Breaks.

All of these become possible, and if the imbalances are not fixed...

It can cause permanent damage.

Even though individual muscles may be exceptionally strong...

It really doesn’t matter in practice...

Because muscles are never utilized individually in life outside of highly orchestrated workouts that do not represent reality.

So when you push the body in reality...

There is a crash...

A crumbling...

Destruction.

The same happens in every type of team.

The principle works exactly the same.

Most teams have members...

Even strong members...

But because the teams are working together.

Individual efforts...

But no coordination.

Over time...

These imbalances create structural damage...

Silos...

Individuals repeating work...

Individuals doing counterproductive work for individual gain...

Individual Burnout becoming Group Burnout.

This ends up leading to a simple result...

Failure.

This does not always happen immediately...

Certain factors can help a team survive...

Such as being the current Category King or Queen...

Hyper-specializations that have not yet been replicated...

Customers remaining due to high switching costs...

But when a team exists in this manner...

Eventually...

Every time...

The organization bursts.

If you understand the principles at play...

You can begin to see this happen long before an organization crashes.

There are many organizations today where we can already see the strain happening.

What makes it more sad...

Is that so many leaders are completely blind to it.

Not much different than the person in the gym...

Who is improving the amount of weight they are lifting for individual muscles...

While slowly destroying their body in the process.

This is the fate that awaits the vast majority of organizations today.

When the collapse happens...

Is only a matter of time.
