Why Mg-ATP Matters To Leadership Success

Understanding The Functional Health Problem In Business Today

When I first started coaching executive leaders, business owners, and entrepreneurs...

I would have asked what business challenges you were facing.

Why?

It was what I was taught was the solution.

If you understand the leadership problems in an organization...

You can create a strategy to fix the problems...

And then the organization will succeed.

Makes sense in theory.

But I discovered a number of years ago...

It fails in practice.

How badly does it fail?

At the height of the leadership development industry...

It was a $350 billion industry...

With an 80% failure rate...

And “limited” success for the remaining amount.

But that was at the “height” of the industry...

And the industry has taken a huge hit since 2020...

Now with true estimates (ie, not those based on figures prior to 2020) putting it at under $100 billion.

That downturn did not surprise me...

It made perfect sense...

Because, despite what many people claim is the problem in leadership...

Skills such as team-building and those around emotional intelligence...

Those are not really the underlying problem.

The real problem is health.

Psychophysiology.

How the body functions...

Or more accurately...

Fails to function properly.

It is not that leaders are not learning the skills they need...

It is that they cannot “access” the skills they need because of psychophysiological failures...

Either their own or their teams’.

Our psychophysiology acts as a limiter on what is accessible or inaccessible in our capabilities as humans.

2020 really was a turning point in demonstrating how vulnerable we are as humans at this point in history...

And how terribly it is impacting both our lives and our ability to work.

When you understand the health problem...

You begin to see how it is impacting our ability to work.

For instance...

Over 80% of the workforce is in stages of burnout.

Based on the research, we can give a “high” estimate that our productivity potential...

Or our maximum accessible productivity based on the current state of our health...

Is locked at 5% or less...

And that can become negative productivity, which we are seeing in many workplaces today.

Tell me...

How can you expect a leader...

Even a talented leader...

To succeed when the majority of their workforce is locked at 5% or less productivity?

You cannot.

It does not matter how skilled the leader is...

It does not matter what motivation you offer...

Our psychophysiology is “literally” blocking our ability to achieve more.

But it begs the question...

How did it get this bad?

The answer is that this has been a trend that has been occurring for decades.

2020 was simply the straw that broke the camel’s back...

And the vast majority of workplaces have continued to make matters worse with their policies.

See...

Burnout is actually a symptom...

Not a cause.

To understand why Burnout has become rampant...

We have to look upstream at what is causing this problem.

Mg-ATP...

Or mitochondrial energy, aka human energy.

To oversimplify the problem...

We need energy, Mg-ATP, to function.

When our stressors increase, we need more Mg-ATP to handle them.

If our stressors increase...

At exponential rates for the vast majority of people over the decades...

But our Mg-ATP remains the same...

Or decreases as the case has been for decades for the vast majority of people...

Then we begin to run on an energy deficit.

When that happens...

Our body will do two things until the problem is fixed...

Either it will limit access to certain psychophysiological functions...

Such as higher-level thinking and emotional intelligence...

Or it will strip other bodily systems for parts.

In the short term, this is a great survival strategy...

Assuming that the stressors decrease...

And/or the Mg-ATP levels increase.

But that is the problem...

Our stressors, as a society, have only increased...

And our ability to effectively produce Mg-ATP has decreased based on societal trends.

The result...

Is that the deficit is getting larger...

Requiring the body to both block certain psychophysiological functions...

And simultaneously breaking down other bodily systems to survive.

At least...

Until it is no longer able to do so.

Because indeed, as we have seen in China’s 996 culture...

Which is technically illegal but culturally still expected and maintained...

As well as in other countries like India, which have similar work cultures...

The energy deficit problem has become so terrible that people in their 20’s and 30’s are “literally” dying from overwork and burnout...

As determined medically by doctors.

But, even if you are not at the point of literal death...

You are going to experience a huge number of health problems that will actively block you from your ability to be productive...

As well as your ability to lead effectively.

When you do not have enough Mg-ATP...

Different systems will begin to falter...

As more systems falter...

Your total stressors will increase...

Making you less able to handle new stressors...

Which inevitably comes.

When you begin to exceed your current stress threshold levels...

Your body begins to “attempt” to build defense mechanisms...

But this further negatively impacts our ability to work.

I have especially seen this become more common with what are known as Memory Capsules, which are stored within the nervous system...

Which begin to grow and become triggered whenever we exceed our stress threshold...

Which has become constant in most people’s lives.

How do you expect a leader to accomplish anything...

When the entire workforce is operating like this?

Made worse through emotional contagion and neurocardiological entrainment?

The answer is simple...

You cannot.

No amount of “leadership development”, no matter how amazing the program is, will overcome what is a psychophysiological problem.

When our psychophysiology limits what is possible...

We are not going to attain the levels of leadership success or potential that we seek.

This is why I no longer focus on skills when I work with clients...

I look at psychophysiology.

Skills are actually very simple to teach and develop...

But “only” when our psychophysiology is working with us...

Instead of working against us.

You need to look at whether you are effectively creating Mg-ATP...

As well as what is draining it too quickly...

So that you can rebuild your health...

To gain access to your higher functioning abilities.
