Why I Do Not Let AI Write Articles For Me
Yes, My (Nearly) 1,200 Articles Are All By My Hand
Written by a human, for humans, always.
On January 1, 2023...
I made a decision.
I was going to write articles for my business...
Every single day.
The original goal was to do 1 year of articles...
And I just never stopped.
On April 14, 2026, I will have reached 1,200 articles straight...
Including this article.
Now, as I began this journey...
There was a technology that had just begun to take the world by storm...
Artificial Intelligence...
Or at least the specific type of LLMs that we have today.
There were many people who were taking hold of this technology...
Using it for everything in their work and lives...
Including their writing.
Indeed, I have writing mentors who use AI for nearly all of their writing...
And AI content has been taking over the internet...
To the point where experts say that more content on the entirety of the internet has now been generated by AI than humans.
I thought about using AI in my work...
I put time into learning how it works and testing out what AI is capable of.
But at the end of the day...
I decided that I would not let AI write my articles for me.
But why?
What led to that decision...
When so many others...
Including people who I do trust and respect to this day...
Have gone “all in” on AI?
The first challenge that I had with AI was getting it to consistently write content based in psychophysiological fact.
See...
AI is trained on a “lot” of data...
Most of the internet at this point.
But when it comes to psychophysiology...
It consistently got information wrong.
Whether it utilized junk marketing research in what it came up with...
Or decided to use the work of a moronic influencer that clearly did not understand basic physiology over reliable information...
Or it failed to actually understand what research was actually revealing, instead opting to “shortcut” the information by getting the gist, while ignoring crucial information in the data...
Or the research on a topic is relatively new and therefore the AI has not gotten “enough” of it to overcome the levels of old data in its training...
I was finding that I failed to get accurate information 70% of the time...
Or worse.
Not to mention...
That there were many times where I would “give” the AI information...
And it would “still” get it wrong.
The more complex a topic is...
The less reliable I found AI to be.
But it was more than just the reliability of AI that led to the decision.
It was also the “feel” of the writing.
It was cold.
Dead.
Formulaic.
One thing that I have discovered in writing is that this type of writing does not really land with people.
It might be used well enough in academic settings and research where someone is purposefully attempting to peacock to others within their industry...
But most people find that type of writing pretentious.
Yet it was worse than that...
Because of the lack of feeling.
Though it may have been technically correct...
And absolutely more technically correct than I am in writing...
There was no feeling...
No purpose...
No understanding...
Just cold, dead words on an unfeeling white void that calls souls to oblivion.
I couldn’t stand seeing the ideas I wanted to express in that kind of light.
There was still another reason, though...
Which has perhaps become one of the most important reasons now...
I needed to be challenged.
See...
When we look at our development and cultivation as humans...
We need challenges in our lives.
It is actually “necessary” to reach our psychophysiological best.
When things come too easily...
They stop having meaning...
We begin to move through the motions...
But it does not cause anything of value “in” us.
Without challenge...
We decay.
This is not some philosophical waxing either...
It is a “legitimate” problem that we are seeing happen to people.
People are, quite literally, losing both their capabilities within their domains of work...
As well as experiencing measurable and significant decreases in intelligence...
IQ scores are literally dropping.
The reason...
Is because they are not challenging themselves...
Not forcing themselves to understand their work and processes...
Not cultivating themselves in such a way as to cause themselves to become better.
In life...
You have growth...
And decay.
When you no longer challenge yourself...
And allow other things, such as AI, to remove all challenges in your life...
You decay.
Now, at the time, there had not been research that showed this...
But I had this internal feeling that I “needed” to challenge myself with writing everything myself.
To test my ideas.
To discover new and different ways to express my ideas.
To build out and understand the different systems that existed in my work.
I loved the challenge.
It fueled me.
It led to new insights.
It was fulfilling when I overcame the initial struggles.
When my words landed well with others...
It felt earned.
All of this was because I “chose” to write my articles...
And because I did not allow something important to my cultivation to be delegated.
Writing was, and very much still is, incredibly important to my process.
For years in my work...
I did not write...
And though I made some progress...
It was not until I began to write every single day that I began to make leaps and bounds in my work.
It was the challenge that forced me to become better...
And what allowed my work to get noticed.
Part of the appeal of using AI for writing is how it reduces the amount of time required to publish...
Which, in a social media world, that can be a pathway to get “noticed”...
But...
If the quality is mediocre...
And does not improve over time...
Because you are not improving and are relying on AI to do the work for you...
You may be seen at first...
But you will become seen as incompetent in the long term.
What I discovered as I allowed myself to be challenged...
That more people saw my work...
And as the quality of my work improved...
So did the quality of my recognition.
It is what led me to getting into the Hall of Fame for Leadership Coaches...
It is what led to me receiving an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Advanced Studies in Psychology...
And more.
But it would not have happened...
Without the challenge of writing.
That is why I do not, and will not, allow AI to write my articles for me.
I need the challenge.
I want to express my ideas to humans...
Using real human emotion and feelings.
I need my work to be accurate to truly help others.
That is what it should be about.

So, when is the wrong time to use AI?
I am not anti-AI inherently…
But I do think that people are using it for all the wrong reasons and at all the wrong times.
This is what we will look at next.
