There are many people in the world...
Who stand for something.
It is becoming more and more common...
For people to be expected to take a stand...
To be loud and vocal about what it is that they represent...
What or who they support.
This often is needed...
There are indeed dark forces at play in the world, and people do need to take stands against the darkness.
But...
I have watched many people lose every ounce of credibility...
In moments...
Sometimes forever.
How is that?
By being inconsistent.
When you take stands...
Especially when they are loud stands...
Where you expect people to listen and pay attention...
They do.
Often at higher levels than you realize.
Not everyone who is watching and listening makes their presence known.
Those who silently watch make up the majority.
If you take a stand...
The louder you become...
The more consistent the silent majority expects of you.
This means that those who become the loudest voices...
Who hold the greatest levels of power and influence...
Are expected to be near perfect in consistency in what they stand for.
The silent majority is watching.
If you miss...
Even slightly...
In your consistency...
Then you will lose credibility.
The greater the chasm between what you claim to stand for...
And what you are actively...
Or failing to actively stand for...
The harsher your credibility will suffer.
Here is the thing...
We also live in a world that is both harder to please...
And harsher to judge.
Despite the common knowledge that all people are human and therefore are fallible...
Destined to fail...
Many times over the courses of our lives...
Most people simply do not care.
If you are being loud about what you claim to stand for...
People will put you into a harsher scale of judgment.
Period.
Do not think that your past successes will simply save you.
The vast majority of people are tired and done with forgiveness...
Even if it is not good for their wellbeing.
So you will be judged harshly...
Whether it is fair or not.
What does this mean?
Whatever you claim to stand for...
Whatever you make known to the world...
You better know “exactly” what that actually means...
Completely...
Inside and out...
Up and down...
Every single ugly nook and cranny...
Because you will both be expected to stand for that to the highest levels...
And harshly judged...
Both for standing for it...
And significantly worse for every falter along the way.
I have seen many individuals...
Create a platform for themselves based on standing for something...
And I have watched them fail to understand what that actually represents...
Until it was too late...
And when that fateful moment came...
They lost...
Absolutely everything.
I have seen careers lost and ruined...
I have seen businesses crumble...
All because of what people claimed to stand for...
And failed to stand for it...
Or...
Because they discovered that they did not really understand what they stood for...
And when the truth came to light about those things...
It brought extreme levels of disgrace and dishonor.
People are so ready to take a stand in today’s world...
But so often they do not take the time or effort to deeply understand what their stands actually mean.
Be extremely wary of what it is you decide to stand for...
And make sure that it is truly worth standing for...
Then be ready to stand for it like your life depends on doing it successfully.
