What We Often Miss On The Journey To Success

Where The True Value Often Exists

We have this Deep Cultural Desire to Succeed.

We Seek Success.

We Dream about Success.

We Pursue Success with Every Waking Second...

Sometimes to Extremely Unhealthy and Mornic Degrees, as Silicon Valley has been Keen to Demonstrate lately.

But it seems that Success is where So Many Put their Focus.

Here's the Truth, though...

Success is Overrated.

I mean, it has its Perks, do not get me Wrong.

But the Value of Success is Extremely Overestimated.

There is a Wonderful Old Saying that Explains this Well...

"If You Succeeded at Everything You Did... You'd Live a Small Life."

I know that May Sound Strange...

Especially in a World and Culture that Amplifies and Deifies Success.

But It is True.

If you Succeeded at Everything...

You Would Live a Very Small Life.

Why?

Growth and Cultivation "Only" Happen in the Failures.

In the Struggles.

In Overcoming the Tough Aspects of Life.

If You Succeeded on Everything...

You Would Never Grow.

You Would be Stuck Doing Small Things Constantly.

You would be "Successful"...

But Your Success would have No Meaning.

No Purpose.

Nothing of Value.

You Simply Circle in the Same Areas that You Know You can Succeed.

We See this Play Out in So Many Different Ways in the World.

The World of Tech provides a Wonderful Example...

How Many Companies have "Truly" Innovated Anything of Importance over the Past 10 Years?

I know that Many People will talk about Artificial Intelligence, and I'd say the Jury is Still Out on that...

Not that it has "No" Benefits...

Again, I'm Not "Anti-AI" Myself...

But I Continuously Fail to See Significant Results from AI.

It surely Improves the Speed on some things...

"If" You Program and Utilize it Correctly...

Which Most People Fail to Do Completely...

But I have Not Really Seen Any True "Innovation" around AI...

With Growing Reports of AI attempting to Fake Innovation, such as the Food and Drug Administration's AI fabricating Fake Research Studies in its Goals to "Optimize the Approval of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices".

So, to date, I would not say that AI itself is really much of an Innovation in Tech...

Faster Speed...

Maybe...

Only when Done Well, which appears to be Rare...

But not Innovation.

So where are the Major Exponential Innovations in Tech?

I'd argue that the last Major Exponential Innovation in Tech was the Smartphone...

With Many Minor Innovations since then.

Why have there really been No Major Exponential Innovations?

Because, when the Tech Companies became Successful...

They began to Focus Solely on Success...

Finding Failure to be "Unacceptable"...

And therefore their Growth Ceased.

Most of the Growth in Tech over the Past Ten Years has been from Buying Smaller Companies...

Which Killed Any Innovation those Companies were Building...

Or in Copying Other Companies...

Which, when You Understand Category Design, means...

You've Already Lost the Majority of the Market.

It is Even Worse when You Consider this Though...

There is Growth...

Or Decay.

When You are Solely Focused on Success...

Without Failure...

There is No Growth.

Without Growth...

You're in a State of Decay.

Which we have Seen with Many of the Tech Companies.

Their Products and Services have Not Truly Gotten Better Over the Years...

Most of them have Gotten Worse.

Their Workforces have become Disillusioned with the Techno-Utopian Dream...

Now Seeing it as a Dystopian Nightmare run by Techno-Tyrants instead.

People say that the "Golden Age" of Tech is Gone.

The Reason Why is Not Surprising...

Companies have been in a Constant State of Decay for a Long Time.

Largely because they have Not Really Grown...

Because they are Too Focused on Success to Find the True Value in the Journey...

Which is Revealed through the Failures and Overcoming Them.

Do Not be So Keen to Find Your Success...

That You Miss the True Value that Exists throughout the Journey.
