Perhaps the Best Around.
But Despite their Amazing Capabilities and Skills that they have Worked Hard For...
They Find a Wall.
It is Tall and Wide...
They worked So Hard to Make it to this Point...
Felt that Everything they were Seeking Would be Found by Going Down this Path...
But Instead...
The Wall Blocks Their Way.
It can Feel Frustrating because they Have Worked Hard to Get Here...
And Continue to Work Extremely Hard...
But it Feels like Nothing They Do Gets them Past this Barrier.
They Feel Like there Must Be More...
But Cannot Find It.
This is the Expertise Trap.
Our World has a Fascination with the Idea of an Expert.
With Creating Experts...
Designing School and Educational Systems to Help People Become Experts...
It becomes a Race...
The Goal to Reach the Finish Line...
But Once You Reach the Finish Line...
What Then?
All of the Hard Work and Training to Get to This Point...
But What is Next?
Where Do You Go?
This is the Problem...
We "Believe" that Being an Expert "Is" the End...
And Perception Becomes Reality.
When We "Believe" there is Nothing Further than Where We Are...
We Stop Growing.
It is Made More Difficult because the Path to Expertise has Been Laid Out for Us...
It is a Path that Others have Crafted...
Every Step Intentional...
Every Lesson Directed to the End Point...
Every Moment Planned.
But after You Cross the Finish Line?
There is Nothing There...
No New Intention...
No New Lesson Given....
No Moment that is Planned.
You are On Your Own and Expected to Simply...
Know...
You're the Expert Now.
But this is Not the Truth.
Becoming an Expert is Not the End...
It is Only the First Step in a Greater Journey.
The Journey to Sageship.
But the Step to Expertise is Very Different from the Rest of the Journey.
It is True that Once You Become an Expert...
No One is Holding Your Hand Anymore.
The Onus and Burden of Growth are Solely Yours to Carry.
The Path is Not Laid Out for You...
You Must Create the Path.
No One Provides You with an Intention...
You Must Become Intentional of Where You Grow Next.
No One will Hand You the Next Lesson...
You Must either Seek a New Lesson...
Or Begin to Learn from Experience.
And it is this Second Path of Experience Where the Potential for Sageship is Born.
You can Always Seek New Teachers...
But to Become a Sage, You Must Begin to Discover Things that No One Else has Found.
A Sage Starts Seeking...
Which is Difficult When You May Not "Yet" Be Sure of "What" You're Seeking.
You Cannot Know What You're Looking For at the Beginning...
Because it is Still a Mystery.
You Must Begin to Walk into the Unknown.
It Requires You to have Faith that...
Somehow...
Eventually...
You will Begin to See More Clearly what You are Discovering.
For Many Though...
The Vastness of the Unknown...
Is Scary...
Terrifying...
Horrifying...
Enough for them to Sprint Back to What They Know...
But What They Know Does Not Fulfill Them.
However...
If You Truly want to Attain Sageship...
You Must Enter the Unknown...
Submerge Yourself into the Unfamiliar....
Begin to Surround Yourself with the Uncomfortable...
Because This is the Only Place Where a Sage is Born.
Do Not Fall into the Expertise Trap...
Start the Journey into a Greater Journey...
Become a Sage.
Those Who Seek Sageship Also Cultivate Others!
