What If Change Was Always Meant To Be Easy?

Finding Out Why We Believe Change Is Difficult

We've all heard it before...

Change is Hard.

We also See It All the Time in Life.

Whether it is the Change from Moving from One Place to Another.

The Change of Learning a New Job or Career.

Or Even just a Change in the Pace of a Day.

We Seem to have Such a Significant Struggle with Change in Our Lives.

We Talk about How Change is Hard.

I used to Talk about How Change was Hard Too.

I mean...

We have all talked about it and heard about it since We Were Little...

It Must Be True...

Right?

Well, a Few Things go through My Mind...

The First is a Quote...

"It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so." - Mark Twain

Is the "Difficulty of Change" actually True?

We, as Humans, Certainly have a Tendency to "Know" things that Are Not True.

We thought the Earth was Flat.

That the Universe Revolved Around the Earth.

We Tell Ourselves Things So Frequently that are Not True, and We Begin to Believe It.

It is called the Frequency Bias.

We are "Very" Susceptible to Believing Things that are Not True...

As much as We Would Like to Believe Otherwise.

I have Seen It All Too Often...

Especially when it comes to "Scientific Research" which is Found to be False.

But let's get back to Change...

Life is Filled with Change...

Constantly.

Every Day there are Changes that Occur.

Some Obvious...

Others More Subtle.

If We Think Back to Our Ancestors...

Long Before We Had Technology...

They had to be Ready for Change Constantly.

Any Moment Nature Could Completely Upend their Entire Existence in a Matter of Hours.

If Change Was "So Hard"...

Surely they Would Have Perished.

Long Before we would Even have an Inkling of an Idea of what We have Accomplished in Today's World.

Not to Mention...

If Change was Such a Struggle for Us...

How Would We Have Been Able to Spread Across the Planet?

Take Residence in Every Climate?

When You Begin to Consider the Evidence...

We, as Humans, have had to Make "Extreme" Changes to Create Today's World.

Change has been a Constant In Our Lives...

So "Why" Do We Believe that Change is Hard?

What has Changed that has Caused us to Not Only Believe It...

But to Constantly Tell Others about How Difficult Change Is?

Have We Become Weaker as Human?

Are We Broken?

Did Something Snap?

I Do Not Think So.

I think that We are Equally Capable of Handling Change as Our Ancestors.

I Believe that Change "Should" Be Easy.

But there is Something that is Currently Standing In Our Way...

Stressors.

Constant and Seemingly Endless Stressors.

This is the Way that I See It Today...

Our Bodies are Designed to try to Both Minimize the Use of Energy...

But Simultaneously Maximize Creativity...

When We are At Our Best as Humans...

We Create Habits that Minimize Our Overall Energy (Mg-ATP) Use...

Which gives Us "More" Available Energy (Mg-ATP) to Maximize Creativity towards whatever Goals We Seek.

It is Where Our Ability to Change Efficiently is Maximized.

When we look at Psychophysiology, this is "Exactly" what occurs in Flow States.

This, however, becomes Our Problem...

Many People are Struggling to Get Into Flow States Consistently.

If Flow is where we are Most Able to Change Effectively...

But We are Not "Getting" Into Flow...

Then it Makes Sense that "Change" Feels Difficult.

From a Psychophysiological Perspective...

Change "Is" Harder Outside of Flow States...

And We are Being Blocked from Flow States because We are in Constant and Chronic Dis-Stress.

As Long as We Are In Dis-Stress, We are Blocked from Flow States.

As Long as We are Blocked from Flow States, We Will Struggle with Change.

Not Because Change "Is" Difficult.

But Because "We" are Not in the Psychophysiological State of Being, which Makes Change Easy to Handle.

But this is What We Need to Understand...

Change "Should" Be Easy.

Change is Not the Problem.

"We" are Simply Not Currently in the Proper State of Being.

But We Can Be.

Flow is Something that Should Be Accessible, Consistently, for Everyone.

If We Reduce Our Stressors, it Becomes Possible.

Then, Change becomes Very Simple.
