The Two Greatest Dangers When Facing The World's Darkness

Understanding What Causes Us To Fall On The Path Of Light

There is Darkness that Exists in the World.

Even if we would like to Escape from it...

We Cannot.

The Darkness finds its way throughout the World.

Sometimes we Happen Upon It Accidentally.

Sometimes it is Brought to Us by Others.

Then, Other Times it is Forced Upon Us, though We Would Wish Otherwise.

The Darkness Will Find Us.

We Will Be Forced to Face that Darkness.

By Choice Or By Force.

It takes a Deep Courage to Accept This.

Within this, Facing the Darkness has its Inherent Dangers.

But what are those Dangers?

The First is the Danger of Allowing the Darkness to Extinguish Our Own Light.

Those things that are Truly Dark in the World are Difficult for Us to Accept as Real and True.

But They Are.

Thoughts begin to Crawl Through Our Mind...

Who Are We to Face Such Darkness?

Who Are We to Believe that We Have Any Power to Face It?

Who Are We to Consider that We Can Impact the World with Any Effect with the Limits of our Own Abilities?

The Types of Questions can Leave us Feeling Hopeless.

Feeling Powerless.

Just the Thought of this can Leave Us Feeling Drained of All Motivation.

Why Even Try?

It can be So Easy to Give In and let the Darkness Snuff Us Out.

But We Cannot Allow That.

The World Cannot Afford for those who Seek Good to just Give Up.

We Need People who Take their Light and Improve the World.

But, there is Another Danger We Must Also Watch Out For.

When We Face the Darkness, there is a Tendency to Forget the Light.

The Darkness Sometimes Changes Us.

Like a Virus, it Spreads and Infects How We Think and How We See the World.

We Lose Track of Our Morals and Beliefs.

Begin to Justify Our Actions.

We Say Things Like...

For the Greater Good...

But We Use it as Justification to Commit Deeds of Darkness.

Instead of Creating Light...

We Begin to Spread Darkness Ourselves.

I have Heard it Called...

Righteous Anger.

An Eye for an Eye.

Comeuppance.

But the Reality is that it is a Guise for Allowing Ourselves to be Consumed and to Enact Darkness Upon the World.

This has Infected People at All Levels.

From Political Leaders...

To Religious Leaders...

To Teachers...

To Parents...

I have Seen this Form of Darkness Again and Again.

People who Claim to be Caring Saying and Enacting some of the Cruelest Things.

Instead of Fighting the Darkness...

They Become the Darkness.

Sometimes they becomes Create More Darkness than they Fight.

Pushed Forward by a Sense of Self-Righteousness, Pride, and Hubris.

It then becomes a More Slippery Slope because...

Once You Claim to do Something in the Name of Something that Seems Justified...

It can be Difficult to Stop Doing It.

For, to Stop Doing that Thing becomes an Admittance that You were Wrong.

With that can come a Loss of Everything that You have Gained...

It becomes a Mixture of Fear, Greed, and Pride.

A Powerful Mixture to become Trapped and Remain in the Darkness.

A Vicious Cycle that Drags Us Further into Abyss.

Either of these Fates becomes Disasterous when Facing the Darkness of the World.

Giving In to the Darkness and Becoming Consumed by the Darkness.

It can Feel like Walking on a Balance Beam.

But, there is Something to Keep In Mind...

Falling from the Balance Beam does not make You a Failure...

It makes You Human.

We All Struggle Against the Darkness and Will Fall.

You Only Become a Failure if You Allow the Darkness to Win...

If You Fail to Get Back On the Balance Beam of Walking in the Light.

Never Give Up.

Rise Again.
