The Slanderous Pseudoscience Mislabel
Understanding How Good Science Becomes Incorrectly Defined And The Most Common Reason Why
Written by a human, for humans, always.
Does “Pseudoscience” exist?
Absolutely.
But as I’ve looked into understanding human psychophysiology at deep and complex levels...
I have come to discover something interesting.
There are many modalities that become labeled as “Pseudoscience”...
But when you actually look more closely at their claims...
You discover that it is actually based on very solid science.
Then...
When you look at what “opponents” claim about those modalities...
You begin to understand that they clearly do not understand what they are talking about.
Further...
When you begin to look at history...
You begin to understand how different modalities were labeled...
And in many cases...
Mislabeled.
So the question is...
How does good science end up becoming mislabeled...
And why?
Let’s start with the how.
What I very frequently find...
Is that when it comes to science...
There are different standards and goals within different modalities.
Often...
Within any individual framework...
The standards and goals are actually very positive and make sense.
One of the biggest areas where we see a mislabel occur...
Is when you attempt to apply a different methodology’s standards and goals.
Think of it like this...
We could all agree that Michael Jordan was an objectively fantastic basketball player.
But...
If I were to judge Michael Jordan’s abilities as an athlete by the metric of how many Touchdowns he achieved in the NFL...
Aka, metrics in a sport he never played in...
The metrics would say that Michael Jordan never achieved any Touchdowns in the NFL and therefore was never a good athlete.
Now...
Does that sound like it is a fair way of judging Michael Jordan?
Of course not!
Yet when I look at understanding different psychophysiological modalities that exist...
This is precisely how I see so many methodologies judged.
What usually happens...
Is that a methodology is judged based on something that it never claims to be able to accomplish...
“Research” is done to test the claim that the methodology was never designed to accomplish...
As would be expected, the “Experiment” fails because the methodology is being misused...
Then it is determined that the methodology “does not work” and therefore is “Pseudoscience”.
A very common way this is done is using Western or Allopathic Standards...
Specifically in the idea of “Diagnosis” and “Treatment”.
Within Western and Allopathic modalities...
You cannot “treat” a disease until you can “diagnose” that disease...
So...
You need to be able to obtain a diagnosis...
Then, after that diagnosis, you can provide a specific “Treatment” for that specific “Diagnosis”.
Now, that works really well within the Western or Allopathic models.
But if you look at many health modalities that exist...
Their goal is not to identify a specific disease to “diagnose” and treat that disease...
The goal is to prevent the human body from ever getting to a point of disease.
The methods are usually designed for overall health...
Not for specific diseases.
So what you will see in the research...
Is that a modality will be “tested” to either “diagnose” a specific disease or “treat” a specific disease...
Which just is not how those methods work.
Often...
If you actually look at the chain of events...
Those diseases are caused by “multiple” factors that are going wrong...
And if you only work on “one” of those factors...
It does not resolve the overall problems that are experienced.
Even the “treatments” that are often prescribed in Allopathic or Western Modalities do not accomplish this...
They simply stop the “specific” problems...
But in so doing usually create a list of side effects that create new problems.
So...
If you look at a modality that attempts to identify “all” or “many” of the upstream problems within an individual’s life...
Then judge that modality on only one factor of the overall problems...
And further is judged on the (false) belief that everyone’s lives are similar enough that the same upstream treatment will work exactly the same way for everyone...
Then the inevitable result is that the modality will “fail” the ridiculous expectations that are unfairly being placed upon it...
Especially when the individuals conducting the experiments are not trained in those modalities in the first place.
It is designed to fail.
This brings us to the better question...
Why?
Why would things be done in this manner?
The most common reason why...
Is money.
Let me paint a picture for you...
If the Western and Allopathic Model requires there to be a Diagnosis...
But people stay healthy and therefore never get sick enough to obtain a diagnosis...
Who loses profit?
Now...
Does this mean that the Western and Allopathic Models do not work?
No, not necessarily.
They can be incredible methodologies for specific situations.
But...
What it “does” mean...
Is that those modalities are incentivized to have people become diagnosed and that treatments are not so powerful as to lose the diagnosis...
And some individuals within those modalities have extremely vested interests to make sure that the money keeps coming in.
So...
What those individuals will do...
Is conduct or fund research against other modalities, purposefully, to get poor results to discredit those modalities...
So that people will not seek them out in the first place...
Even when those modalities actually have incredible scientific research to support what they do and spectacular success rates in helping people be healthy...
And sometimes even helping people remove diagnoses they were told they would never escape with incredible reliability.
Of course...
Many of those practitioners are also not allowed to “say” that, because the same people funding the slanderous research also fund legislation that will prevent that kind of language from being allowed.
Now...
I started this article by saying that Pseudoscience does exist.
There are modalities that exist which make claims that have no reliable evidence or science to support them, which can be very harmful.
So I am not saying you should blindly trust every modality.
I am also not saying that we should destroy Allopathic and Western Medicine.
Those modalities have incredible success in certain things, and importantly are great at making sure people do not die when they are already in poor condition.
What I am saying...
Is that you should do your own real research.
Look at what scientific research claims.
Look at what different modalities claim.
See what makes sense.
Pay closer attention to why things make no logical sense.
Follow the evidence.
See what proponents say.
See what the opposition says.
Do not immediately fall for the labels...
Nor believe that the labels are inherently a conspiracy theory.
The truth does exist...
But you need to wade through the different information and test the various claims to find the truth of it all.
