The Problem With Finding A Place In The World

Why The Search Never Turns Up Fruitfully

So Many People are Searching for their Place in the World...

They Look High...

They Look Low...

They Go from One End of the Planet to the Other.

Yet, most people who are Searching for their Place in the World...

Continually Find that they Cannot Find a Place.

Everywhere they Go...

Paths are Shut Off to Them...

Places Always Seem to Feel Wrong...

Promises of Better Places Call Out to Them...

Yet Never Seem to Deliver what is Deeply Hoped For.

Everywhere People Go...

They Struggle to Find a Place for Themselves in the World.

This is Not Surprising, Though.

It Should Be Expected.

Why?

It is Because We Fundamentally Misunderstand the Idea of "Our Place".

We look at the Landscape of the World as if it were a Jigsaw Puzzle.

If We Just Find the Right Spot...

We Will "Fit In".

But this is a Completely Flawed Idea.

To be a Puzzle Piece...

We Must be Stagnant...

Defined Perfectly...

Incapable of Change.

Stagnant.

Except, none of these are True.

We are Humans.

Alive.

Within Nature, there is No Such Thing as Stagnation...

There is Growth and Decay.

Nothing about Us is Ever Perfect.

Situations are Challenging and Push Us Toward Change in One Form or Another.

We are Not Puzzle Pieces.

We can, of Course, Attempt to Fit into a Puzzle Piece Shape...

But it Will Never Feel Right.

If We are Smaller than the Piece, we Might be Able to "Grow" into the Shape...

But Eventually...

If Our Growth Continues, then We Will Outgrow the Shape...

Or If We Become Content, We Begin to Decay and Stop Being Able to Fill the Shape.

But Regardless...

The Shape will Always Feel Wrong in One Way or Another as We Struggle to "Stay" in that Unchanging and Unnatural Shape.

This is Why the Search for Finding a Place in the World Never Turns Up Fruitfully.

You Cannot "Find" A Place...

Life is Not an Unchanging Puzzle.

There is No "Place" that Will Ever Be "Perfect" for Who You Are Today and Tomorrow as You will Always be Changing.

But there is Good News...

You Do Not Need to "Find" a Place in the World.

There is Another Path that Will Always Be More Fulfilling...

Designing Your Place in the World.

Instead of Looking at the World as an Unchanging Puzzle...

See it as a Beautiful Ecosystem.

Within the Ecosystem, You Must Figure Out the Niche Where You can Maximize Who You Are...

Your Strengths...

Your Passions...

But Also Still Allow for Growth.

This is an Ongoing Process that Can Change.

In an Ecosystem...

When there are Changes...

Those Living within the Ecosystem also Change...

They Adapt...

They Grow into New and Different Roles.

They can Also Seek New Ecosystems if Conditions Truly Change...

Design a New Place in the World.

Perhaps You Wish to Expand Beyond the Reaches of Your Current Industry...

As a Sage Always Does when they Reject the Idea that "Mastery" is the End...

Then You Never Will "Find" a Place...

That Place Does Not Exist Yet.

The Only Choice for a Sage "Is" to Create Something New.

A Sage will Reject the Idea of "Finding" a Place...

Because they Know the Only Way they Will Be Able to Grow Fully into their Potential...

Is to Create their Place in the World.

This is the Only Way to Truly Become Everything that You have the Potential to Become.
