We live in a culture that is obsessed with success.
Always driving to reach a goal...
As fast as possible...
Quicker and quicker...
Obtaining the results to attain whatever is at the end of the goal.
But this is where the irony begins...
So many people...
Become so desperate in their pursuit of their goals...
That they end up failing to obtain the secret ingredient to their success...
Even when they appear to be reaching their goals.
In fact...
Sometimes it is the actual attaining of the goal...
That becomes the problem for so many people.
So...
What is this secret ingredient?
Experience.
What so many people fail to obtain when they are rushing toward their goals...
Is to obtain real and significant experience.
They are so desperate to reach the end goal...
That they miss what is most valuable...
The process.
This is one of the greatest problems in today’s world.
People will do just about anything for an end result...
Completely overshooting everything that would provide them with what they seek.
See...
True success does not come from attaining the goals.
Yes, you can make things appear like they are successful...
Reach different end goals.
But the problem with that...
Is that you begin to “appear” very successful...
Without truly “being” successful.
This creates a certain level of expectation that people will have of you.
Except...
The appearance is greater than the reality.
Without going through the deep processes...
Without the experience gained...
You cannot back up the image that is created.
Which becomes the exact problem.
When you have an image that is created...
People expect you to live up to that image...
But when you cannot do that...
You lose trust and respect.
You lose everything that had the potential to provide you with success...
And the bigger problem...
Is that we live in a world where a reputation spreads as fast as the internet.
Once your reputation for being unable to meet expectations spreads...
It does not go back.
Being unable to meet that expectation...
Has ruined entire careers.
I have watched people lose everything...
Have to start over...
Rebuild from scratch...
Because they were obsessed with the image of success...
Rather than being truly successful.
I have also watched some people...
Do it over...
And over again.
Running from one industry to the next...
Failing everywhere they went because they continued to chase success...
Without ever truly being successful.
There is nothing wrong with wanting success...
Or chasing your goals.
But you need to understand and realize that the goal is not the true merit of success.
It is not sustainable.
It will not continue to provide for you.
You will get to the goal...
And realize how little it actually gives.
Do not then make the mistake of chasing more goals faster...
Because it will simply inflate the appearances further and further...
Until the appearances become completely unmanageable to maintain...
And you become discovered in the process.
The only way to obtain success...
That continues to provide anything of substance in your life...
Is to go through the process...
Over and over again...
Gain experience...
Keep going...
Until who you are internally...
Vastly exceeds who you appear to be externally.
It is then and only then...
That you will have the secret ingredient that will allow you to continually reach new heights and new goals...
That you will be able to maintain.
What is perhaps most interesting about this process...
Is that when you do it correctly...
You will reach more goals...
More quickly...
But you will also realize...
That the goals were never what made you successful...
Who you become is where success exists.
