The Challenge Of Looking Beyond The Darkness
Written by a human, for humans, always.
There are some days...
Where you look out at what humans do...
And it strikes deep into your core...
Horror.
Things that people say and do in the world...
That make horror films seem like child’s play.
Sometimes it seems too horrible to believe...
And I think...
Sadly...
Many people turn away...
Actually believing that some of these things are a joke...
Lies and deceptions devised by “the other side”...
All while refusing to face the possibility...
That the horror is real.
That among us...
There are human individuals who commit acts worse than imagined monsters.
It couldn’t be possible...
But it is.
If you are brave enough to look into the darkness yourself...
Instead of just listening to the words or opinions of others (who sometimes lie)...
How will you handle it?
Worse...
When you look at those who commit these terrible acts...
And see...
The lack of empathy...
The justifications they utilize to make themselves out to appear ethical...
The refusal to apologize or admit they caused any harm...
And sometimes...
The desire to go even further with future acts...
You begin to understand that the darkness that exists in the world...
Sometimes is unimaginable.
It can become very easy...
To see that kind of horror in humanity...
And question whether anything is worth doing in the world.
If perhaps...
It would be better for all of this darkness to simply allow itself to destroy itself.
To simply give in and give up.
That is the easier path...
But it is also the more horrifying act.
Because there are two things that will happen if we do this...
The first is that the reality is...
The darkness will not simply go away...
And even if it does somehow destroy itself...
It will not be quick.
How many more people will have to suffer horrifying existences...
Because we all simply allowed it to happen?
With this...
There will always be someone who will work to stand against the darkness...
But if they do it alone...
They will be crushed quickly and quietly without even a whisper being heard.
That flicker of hope will be squashed.
It will not be for nothing...
But it will accomplish much less than it could have...
If only more of us stood against the darkness.
What we need to realize...
Is that the reality is that the deepest levels of darkness that exist in humanity...
Are really the minority.
But...
If they can convince you either...
That they are not actually that bad...
Or...
That standing against them is hopeless...
Or...
That there is a bigger boogie-man which they created through lies, deception, and misinformation that you should pay attention to...
It only allows them to gain more power and access to spread their horror.
Is that truly what you want?
I know...
That to look into the eyes of true darkness is terrifying...
It can be painful and gut-wrenching...
But you cannot allow that darkness to destroy the hope of something better.
The world only becomes better...
When we live in truth and reality...
Working together...
To make the world around us a better place.
But it will only happen...
If we actually seek truth and reality...
Stop falling into the many different deceptions that exist around us...
Designed to cause us to react instead of actually using our brains...
Because if you were actually wise, you would see through the deceptions of every side...
Then find the common ground amidst those who actually want to design a more hopeful future.
The darkness thrives when we are disconnected, distracted, disempowered, and divided.
Hope only comes from genuine connection, focus, empowerment, and unity.
