The Flowering Of Life
Earth Day Edition And The Surprising Ways Flowers Bring Meaning And Can Improve Our Lives
Written by a human, for humans, always.
Today is Earth Day, where we celebrate making progress toward creating a cleaner world.
I am a big fan of regenerative projects in my work...
Not just within businesses and human lives, although that is needed...
But within the world at large.
We are interdependent with the world around us.
We cannot avoid that.
So our efforts toward whatever goals we have should account for that.
Without a healthy planet...
We will not be healthy ourselves...
And it becomes a chain reaction of problems we will experience.
Now, as I was looking through some of this year’s focus points...
I came across the chosen poster for the year...
Now, I found this very interesting because recently aspects of my work...
Looking at human psychophysiology and what prevents us from reaching our potential...
Has actually been focusing in on flowers.
It is, of course, not the only thing I am researching...
But it has been incredibly interesting.
We have a long association with flowers in our world.
Metaphorically, they have come to have so much meaning for us.
You cannot think about Valentine’s Day without an image of roses coming to mind.
A lily often portrays images of purity, virtue, and devotion, as you see in Christian symbolism with the Resurrection and the Virgin Mary.
Not to mention the myriad of personal reflections people have with different flowers.
We also know the importance of flowers from an ecosystem perspective.
Bee populations depend on flowers for pollen...
And flowers depend on the bees to cross-pollinate.
Butterflies fly hundreds of miles, requiring meadow flowers along the way, which have become rarer and led to the concept of Meadowscaping.
Many animals rely on flower nectar, such as hummingbirds, lizards, and even monkeys.
With this...
We find that many flowers are used in medicine...
Many of which you are likely very familiar with.
Chamomile is used to help with relaxation, sleep, and digestion.
Lavender is used to reduce anxiety and stress.
Echinacea is used to boost the immune system.
Hibiscus is known to be high in antioxidants and helps with blood pressure and heart health.
We see this often used in so many different ways...
But flowers still have other properties...
Such as helping us work through different emotional states.
This is one that I have been interested in because I see many clients struggle with different emotions...
Plus...
My brother-in-law was diagnosed as non-verbal autistic, and I have watched him struggle with the intensity of the emotions he feels.
This got me fascinated with flower remedies that are designed specifically for emotions...
And the different potential benefits that could provide for so many people I am working with.
I also saw how they could be utilized in tandem with the nervous system...
Which is a growing problem that I have been seeing in the world at large.
Specifically in how the nervous system is tied closely to emotions through what are called “Memory Capsules”...
Which can grow over time and become “Trauma Capsules” that can become experienced as physical pain...
Despite there being no physical damage in those areas.
If you have ever felt a pain that just would not go away...
And no amount of pain-killer seemed to help...
There is a good possibility that at least some part of that experienced pain...
Perhaps even all of it...
Was caused specifically by Memory or Trauma Capsules that have gone on unresolved in the body...
Or is a combination of physical pain and these Capsules...
Especially if the pain experienced from these capsules caused you to adapt your physical structure in an effort to prevent the feeling of pain...
Causing a structural imbalance that created real physical damage elsewhere.
When you begin to see the deeply interconnected aspects of the body within psychophysiology...
You begin to find novel and fascinating approaches to help people have new life...
Some of which you may never have even expected...
Such as a flower.
This Earth Day...
Keep in mind how so many aspects of the Earth are incredibly important to our health...
And appreciate what can be provided if we take care of our planet.
