The Challenge Of Change
The Two Ways Most People Go Wrong
The Challenge Of Change
The Two Ways Most People Go Wrong
Written by a human, for humans, always.
Change.
It is something that most people struggle with...
While also being what we cannot escape.
One of the few inevitable aspects of life.
But when it comes to change...
There are usually two different paths that I see most people attempt to take...
And both paths...
Fail.
So what are the two paths?
The first is the desire to avoid change.
Doing everything in your power to keep things exactly the same.
Often it comes from a fear of what change means...
Such as the loss of health...
Loneliness...
Death...
Just as a few examples.
What happens though when we try to avoid the changes?
Well...
They still happen.
But when you mix the fact that change always does happen...
With the emotions involved in trying to avoid change...
Usually...
It actually makes the changes that occur worse.
If we are afraid of losing our health...
The stress makes our health become worse, faster.
If we are afraid of being alone...
Our desperation for companionship either deters people or attracts those who would abuse us.
If we are afraid of dying...
We stop living full lives as humans, which can cause us to perish faster.
In the end...
In trying to avoid change...
We only end up exactly where we feared most to be.
But what is the other challenge of change?
For many people...
It is the desire to change too much too quickly.
There are a few problems that arise for people who do this.
One is that in the desire to change so much so quickly...
We often break things that work and are actually beneficial.
Usually...
In the problems we experience in life...
As bad as certain things are...
Not everything is bad.
But when we move so quickly to change things...
We take for granted what is beneficial...
And we end up losing it in the process.
Some of those losses have been truly horrific throughout history.
The other thing that frequently happens when we try to change too quickly...
Is that in trying to make change faster...
It causes a rejection of the change.
We see this when people try to do drastic changes with their diet and exercise...
Where their bodies reject the desired changes and drive people back to their previous habits.
Too much change...
Too quickly...
And we have a tendency to sprint back to where we were before.
When we push to either extreme...
Too little or too much change...
We struggle.
So what are we to do?
We must first accept that change will happen.
However slow or fast...
Change is inevitable.
The sooner we come to terms with this...
The easier life can become.
Then...
We must seek the path where change occurs in the way that we hope...
But at the speed that our bodies and minds can accept...
While making sure that we do not remove what benefits us along the way.
Finding this zone of change is not always easy...
Yet, when we do manage to make our way into it...
We discover that change has many benefits...
Often, which are easier to obtain than we realized.
Change can be a powerful force in our lives...
Bringing with it vastly more than we could ever imagine.
To obtain it though...
We must find the right flow of change within our lives.
When we do...
We unlock a world of possibilities.
