The Accelerator Problem Of The Nervous System In Peak Performance

Why Most People Struggle To Accomplish Anything In Today's World

We tend to believe that Speed is a Great Thing.

Indeed, it can be.

Sometimes even Necessary.

Especially when we Think about Peak Performance.

But let me Pose a Scenario where Speed becomes Horrifyingly Bad...

Then I will explain how this Relates to the Nervous System and the Problems it causes with Peak Performance in Today's World.

Think about Driving a Car.

In Most Cars, You will Push the Accelerator and the Car begins to Pick Up Speed.

This is How we get from Place to Place.

The Accelerator seems like a Wonderful Thing.

In Many Ways, It Is.

But...

What Happens if You Could "Never" Stop the Accelerator?

If the Accelerator was Perpetually Pressed?

The Car would Continue to Pick Up Speed.

Then What?

It would become Dangerous.

If the Car Reaches a Hundred Miles an Hour...

But You Need to Turn Left at a 90-Degree Angle?

What Happens?

Well, You Could "Attempt" to Make the Turn of Course...

But You Would Likely Crash and Flip the Vehicle, potentially Causing Death.

You Could Keep Going and Miss the Turn...

But As Long as the Accelerator is Pressed...

It would become Extremely Difficult to Ever Make it to Your Destination...

Or Impossible.

You could Attempt to Press the Brake at the Same Time as the Accelerator is Still Going...

Success will Be Limited...

Plus, it would Also Cause Other Issues...

You would Destroy the Brake System Quickly...

It could Create Strain on the Transmission and Axle, which could Destroy the Entire Vehicle...

Fuel Efficiency would be Extremely Diminished, requiring More Fuel...

Nothing Good.

Then, if you Had to Drive to get from Place to Place...

How would You Choose to Live Your Life with the Accelerator Stuck?

Well, you would Likely Limit Your Life to the Highway.

Never Leaving It.

Never Seeing the Trees or Land.

Never Going Into Neighborhoods.

Never Experiencing Anything Other than What is Safest.

Simply Existing on the Highway with the Least Number of Difficult Turns...

It would have to be a Circular Highway that Never Goes Anywhere.

What Kind of Life Would That Be?

Now, this may "Sound" like a Far-Fetched Drama...

Like the Movie "Speed" but Extended.

But when it comes to Human Psychophysiology in Today's World, this is actually Far More True than Most Realize.

It All Exists within the Nervous System.

You can Think of the Nervous System as the Accelerator of the Car.

When the Nervous System Sees, Perceives, or Experiences a "Potential" Threat - Imagined or True - It Begins to Accelerate.

But Further than this, the Nervous System is Filled with Neurons that Think Interdependently from the Rest of the Body.

You can Think of the Nervous System as a "Brain System".

Similar to the Brain in Our Head, but with a Different Focus.

Its Focus is Threat Detection.

Even if the Brain in our Head says Something is Not a Threat...

The Nervous System Brain System may "Still" Consider Something a "Potential Threat", and Press the Accelerator Anyway.

In this way it can "Supercede" the Brain.

Now, if the Nervous System remains Activated, it Continues to Press the Accelerator.

As Long as Potential Threats are Detected, the Nervous System Keeps the Accelerator Pressed.

With this, the longer that the Accelerator is Pressed, the more likely the Nervous System will begin to Flag New "Potential" Threats.

Think of the Car on the Highway going at Max Speed, and there is an Off-Ramp...

Normally, you can Hit the Brake and Make the Off-Ramp No Problem...

But if the Accelerator is Stuck and the Off-Ramp is at Too Much of an Angle, it becomes Flagged and Deemed "Too Dangerous" to Even Attempt at that Speed.

This is How the Nervous System begins to Flag Potential Threats.

Now...

If "Too Many" Things begin to get Flagged as "Potential" Threats...

What Happens?

The Nervous System Never Shuts Down.

It Remains Perpetually On.

The Result.

We Stick to Habits We've Done in the Past, even if Logically We Know They Are Not "Good" for Us.

Our Ability to Learn New or Different Habits or Things becomes Impossible.

We Seek High-Energy Fuel, Despite its Quality, just to Keep the Body Going and Prevent it from Crashing.

When we Attempt to "Slow Down" or "Change Direction", it comes into Conflict with the Nervous System, causing Internal Damage as Different Bodily Systems literally Fight against each other.

The Natural Reaction of the Body is to Become Inflammed after Working Hard, as Nervous System Reactions Cause, and this Indicates that Healing is Needed in that Area.

Except the Body is Unable to Slow Down Enough for Healing to Ever Occur.

This is something that we can See and Measure through HRV-Coherence, which will become Lower as the Body attempts to "Speed Up" and "Brake" simultaneously, and will Lower Total HRV over time.

So What Happens Over Time?

Inflammation Builds Up in the Body.

Further and Further it Builds.

The Result of this?

Different Energy (Mg-ATP) Pathways become More Difficult to Traverse or become Completely Blocked.

This then either Requires "More" Energy (Mg-ATP) to Traverse the Same Pathways that the Nervous System Drives Us Toward...

Causing a Further Chain Reaction of More Inflammation, continuing to make it Worse...

Or the Nervous System Decides it is No Longer Able to Traverse that Pathway, and So Sticks to "Safer" Pathways.

But Eventually...

All of the Pathways begin to Look the Same.

Think of it like Continuing to Drive on a Circular Highway that Breaks Down Over Time, and No Crews are ever Sent to Fix the Highway as both the Highway and the Off-Ramps Crumble.

To Attempt to Try Anything New Would be like Trying to Turn the Vehicle at Extreme Speeds.

But Continuing to Stay on the Pathways that are Crumbling is Also Dangerous.

Perhaps "More" Dangerous.

But because the Accelerator is Stuck, Your Ability to Figure Out "Any" Other Plan is Impossible - You are Navigating without having Time to Think.

You are Forced to React with Increasing Hazards and Less Time Between Hazards.

Eventually, We Know what the Results Could Be...

You Can Continue on the Same Path, which will Lead to Increased Anxiety.

But...

Eventually...

You Will Crash, and Possibly Die.

Or...

You Can Give Up, which will Lead to a form of Depression.

But...

Eventually...

Nothing is Improved, and so You Will Crash and Possibly Die.

Or...

You have to Learn to Fix the Accelerator so it is Not Stuck.

Which is itself a Problem for Most People.

Why?

Most People Believe that the Nervous System is "Dependent" instead of "Interdependent".

So, they Attempt to Impact the Nervous System from "Outside" the Nervous System.

They try "Brain" Methods, such as Breathwork or Mindset Work.

Or they try "Gut" Methods, such as Improving Diet.

Except, these Methods Only Work if the Accelerator is "Sticky"...

But Once the Accelerator is "Stuck"?

These "Outside" Methods No Longer Help.

Which is Where We Find Ourselves in Today's World.

Many People, and Perhaps "Most" People, have a Stuck Accelerator Problem in their Nervous System.

Logically, in their Brain, they "Want" to Change their Lives.

They "Want" to Perform Better.

But they Cannot because their Problems are Not in their "Brain" or "Gut".

"Brain" and "Gut" Based Solutions Do Not Help.

Their Problem is in their "Nervous System".

To Solve their Problems, they must Use Methods that Work "Directly" on the Nervous System.

They Need a New ANS-wer.

They Need Methods that Directly Focus on the ANS (Autonomic Nervous System) and Calm It Down.

To "Unstick" the ANS.

They Need ANS-Serenity.
