One Of Our Greatest Psychological Dangers In Today's World

How Not Understanding This Leaves You Vulnerable

There is an Old Belief in Many Cultures...

That When You Know the Name of Something...

You Gain Power Over that Thing.

But...

There is a Far More Important Danger and Warning that Exists within this Belief...

To Be Wary Of Who or What Knows Your Name...

For With Your Name...

They Will Gain Power Over You.

Now, this May Seem Silly in Today's World, or Even Superstitious.

But When We Understand Psychology...

We Learn that this is a Real Phenomenon that has to Do with Our Identities.

Start with this Foundational Question...

Who Are You?

Yes, You have a Name...

But "You" are More than Your Name.

Many People from Here Turn to Certain Aspects of Their Lives...

Their Jobs...

Their Familial Roles...

Their Goals.

All of these Responses are Forms of Identities that We Carry with Us.

Our Identities Create a Subconscious Base for How We Interact with the World.

These Identities Inform Us of What is...

Good or Bad...

Acceptable or Unacceptable...

Safe or Unsafe...

Worthy or Unworthy...

The List can Go On and On.

But what We Must Understand is that Our Identities Create a Foundation for How We See the World.

The Challenge in Today's World...

Is that Most People are Unaware of Most of their Identities...

And this Creates Two Major Problems.

The First Major Problem is that We Cling Harder to the Few that We Do Know...

Regardless of their Value to Us.

This can Create a Variety of Challenges.

One Challenge is that of Transitory Identities.

Some of the Identities that We Carry have Good Benefits...

But are, By Design, Supposed to Change Over Time.

One Example of this is the Identity of Any Job Role...

Sometimes this gets Conflated, and Becomes a Mid-Life Crisis...

Such as when People are Laid Off from their "Dream Job"...

Or when a Job Begins to Feel Meaningless Over Time.

Another Example is the Identity of a Parent.

Many Parents Put their Entire Being into their Role for their Children...

But What Happens when the Child Becomes an Adult and Leaves the House?

This Becomes the "Empty Nest" Syndrome where Parents No Longer Understand Who They Are...

Because They Made a Transitory Identity their Entire Focus of Their Life.

These are Not Bad Identities to Have...

But these Identities Do Create Challenges when they Become Our Sole or Primary Identities.

Another Challenge for People Clinging to the Few Identities they Know is that Many People also have Taken Very Shallow Identities...

And Attempted to Make Their "Entire" Lives Revolve around Those Shallow Identities.

The Result?

It Creates a Very Shallow Life...

Chasing Shallow Things...

Seeking Value and Worth...

But Receiving Nothing of Value in Return...

Leaving them Feeling Hollow and Empty...

Looking Up to the Sky and Asking if "This" is All There Is to Life.

It Creates a Vacuum that Leads to Something More Dangerous...

The Second Major Problem is that We are Far More Vulnerable to be Given Identities...

Which We, as Humans, Frequently Accept To Fill that Vacuum...

Identities which May Not be Beneficial to Us...

But We Still Take so that We have "Something" as a Psychological Base.

See...

Having Identities is Important to Our Psychological Base...

They Create a Sense of Safety and Orient Our Behavior.

Without Knowing Our Identities...

We Feel Vulnerable and Unsure How to Act in the World.

That...

Is Where the Danger Becomes Greatest.

There are, Sadly, Many Individuals around the World Who "See" that Vulnerability...

And Will Use You and Abuse You Through It.

They will "Give" You an Identity...

A Way of Seeing the World...

A Way of Acting in the World...

But with a Catch.

If You Fail to Uphold "Their" Values and Rules...

They Will Exile You.

Further...

They Teach You that "They" are Your Only Safety...

That "Everyone Else" is Dangerous...

To Be Feared...

That "Those Others" are Your Enemies that Should "Never" Be Heard or Listened To...

They "Those Others" will "Never" Accept You...

That You "Only" Safety is with "This" Identity.

This is Exactly How Extremists, Terrorists, and Cults Work in the World.

They will Also Twist Evidence and Create Narratives to "Prove" Their Position...

While Hiding the Truth from You.

And...

When We Fail to Know Our Identities...

We are at Risk of Falling into these Psychological Traps.

There is a Subconscious Bias that We Have that "Some" Identity is Safer than Any "Lack" of Identity...

But this Bias is Often False...

And Used Against Us in Some Truly Horrifying Ways.

It Twists the World Around Us...

Pushes us to Reject Any Other Position...

Even when We are Provided with Undeniable Proof that We are Wrong...

Hard Facts and Evidence Become Overlooked.

This is Known as the Confirmation Bias.

Because We have Been Indoctrinated with an Identity...

We are More Likely to Believe Evidence that "Supports" the Identity that has Already been Given to Us...

And Less Likely to Accept "Any" Other Evidence to the Contrary.

This is Usually Made Worse with Another Bias...

The Illusion of Frequency Bias...

This Where We, as Humans, have a Tendency to "Believe" what We Hear the Most Frequently...

Regardless of its Validity.

That is Why Many Organizations that Use and Abuse People "Repeat" Certain Phrases Over and Over Again...

They are Purposefully Attacking the Illusion of Frequency...

To Twist You to Believe that They are Telling the Truth...

To Create a Confirmation Bias in You...

So You Accept the Identity that "They" Want You to Hold...

And So You Reject "Any" Opposing Ideas.

In Todays World, this is Made Worse by Social Media, which Purposefully Creates an Echo Chamber...

Which is Where People are Frequently Attacked in Today's World.

In Today's World...

So Many People are Absolutely Lost...

When it Comes to their Identities...

And it has Left Them Extremely Vulnerable to Become Used and Abused by Others Who Understand the Power of Identities.

But...

When You Learn Your Own True Identities...

You Begin to Become Immune to these Attacks on Us.
