Malicious Liars Or Something Else?

What Many People Completely Miss In Today’s World

Have you ever been listening to someone...

Especially someone in some position of power...

A C-Suite Executive...

A Politician...

An Influencer...

And when you listened to them...

Every word that came out of their mouth was a complete lie?

Was your immediate response...

I cannot trust this person because it is clear they are a liar!

I must immediately reject them because they are purposefully lying!

It is likely for some insidious purpose for their own gain!

Malicious lies!

This is how most people react when they hear something that they believe to be untrue.

But is the liar in question...

Truly malicious?

Or is there something else going on?

See, we live in a world that pushes us to immediately take “sides”...

And it is causing extreme problems...

Why?

Most of the time...

These “liars” are not actually malicious.

Far more often...

They are incompetent in the area they are being questioned in...

And simply are attempting to put on a mask of competence...

To try to gain trust in their abilities.

Now, I’m not saying that there are “not” some liars in the world who are malicious...

But what I’m saying is that there are far more people who are incompetent.

There, of course, is an argument here about certain leaders about whether they “should” be competent in some of the questions they are asked...

And I would agree that they should be competent...

But that sadly does not mean they “are” competent...

Nor does it mean that they are intentionally malicious.

We live in a world that has a lot of problems, which is making it very difficult for a great number of people.

Purposeful misinformation...

Propaganda...

Echo chambers...

Demand for people to answer questions and have opinions on subjects far outside their areas of expertise...

Deep fakes...

Historical revisionism and erasure...

Extremely complex data sets that are difficult to understand...

Human biases...

Sycophants and yes people...

A lack of understanding of deep psychophysiology...

All of these and more make it extremely difficult to know what the truth is...

And so many people fall into these different traps...

Which gives them false information...

That they believe is accurate...

But ends up being completely false and filled with lies.

Yet, it gets worse because these individuals are called and demanded to have opinions on these topics, which they are not competent in...

With their choices either being called out and shamed for not having an opinion...

Or attempting to state what they believe, even if they know they are incompetent in that area...

Or giving the answer they hope will resonate the best with whoever they are speaking with.

But most of it is not malicious...

It is survival and self-preservation.

This brings us to the biggest challenge...

When we demand answers...

And judge harshly...

Especially when “we” do not actually have the facts and have fallen into these same traps...

We create systems where we no longer have competent leaders who are judged based on their real results...

We have incompetent individuals who are trying their best to keep up with all sorts of information that has nothing to do with what they are supposed to be doing...

Making them ineffective at their work...

While also being completely incorrect on most things...

All for the desire of self-preservation.

This is one of the greatest challenges that we are seeing in the world today.

If we want the world to change...

We need to stop being so harshly judgmental of fallible humans...

Especially on topics which they have no business talking about...

And judge them solely on the results of the work that they are “supposed” to be obtaining.

Results are far more important than virtue signalling while actively failing at what you are supposed to be doing.

I’m tired of hearing people’s misinformed and incompetent opinions...

That causes them to lie on things that they have no power or influence over anyhow...

I want to see real results.
