The Circus Of The Internet Today
Written by a human, for humans, always.
Why does everyone believe...
That people care about their opinions?
Especially...
When those opinions are completely uninformed?
Why do people even listen...
To people who clearly are just parroting what they have heard...
From others who are uninformed...
Or worse...
Purposefully manipulating them?
Why do we want people to signal their virtues...
While knowing that they lack virtues in their lives?
The entire internet feels like a circus...
With clowns on every side...
Trying to make each other look like morons...
While simultaneously making themselves look like greater morons.
I am tired of the uninformed.
I cannot go onto a platform...
Any platform...
Without coming across some piece...
A post...
A picture...
An article...
That is truly uninformed garbage...
And that is not even getting into the AI slop that exists.
What makes it so much worse...
Is how people believe they are actually informed...
It is delusional.
The blind leading the blind...
Convincing each other that they have perfect vision.
You can’t even go to “respectable” resources anymore...
Because they have lost their honor...
Assuming they had any to begin with.
I feel like it was not always like this...
But maybe I’m wrong.
Maybe we as humans have always been this excruciatingly uninformed...
Controlled and restrained by the powers of whatever systems had it at the time.
Maybe we just see it more because the internet has become a tool that allows more people to spread what they think they know to wider audiences.
Unchecked.
Unverified.
Untethered.
All made worse by...
The repetition bias...
The confirmation bias...
And the echo chambers of our own designs.
What is worse about this...
Is that within this circus...
There are dangerous lions and tigers crouching, ready to pounce...
Tamers who seek to control these forces for their own gains...
And audiences...
Who willingly give their time, energy, money, and resources...
To watch the spectacle...
Hypnotized by the illusion of poise and control that has been designed...
A cacophonous mess designed to dull our senses...
Making us oblivious to the damage that is caused.
I wish...
More people would utilize the brains that they have...
To actually look at things.
Not to prove a point...
Not to confirm what they think they already know...
But the challenge it.
What I have found...
Is that it is only when we actually look closely...
At everything...
What we think we know...
What we believe to be wrong...
What we are completely unaware of...
Only then does the actual truth begin to shine through it all.
But it can only happen...
If we question everything.
If we doubt what we believe we know...
Not in an anarchic way or a conspiratorial way...
But in a realistic way of knowing...
That so much of what we see...
Is a purposefully designed part of the circus around us...
With the goal of purposefully getting us to believe in a vision of the world...
That is a lie.
Only by reading between the lines...
Paying attention to what different sides want us to see...
And paying attention to what they do not want us to see...
Do we begin to get a realistic picture of what is around us.
But...
It only happens if we stop spewing uninformed nonsense...
Stop pretending like everyone actually cares about every opinion we have...
Long enough...
To actually see what is being said in different ways...
And using our brains to get a more complete picture.
Start seeking out the truth.
